A Information Builders Case Study

Performance Management Improves Purchasing Operations at ThyssenKrupp

ThyssenKrupp, a global manufacturing and steel company with about 188,000 employees in more than 80 countries, needed to standardize and formalize purchasing across dozens of diverse business units. After reorganizing into major divisions and hundreds of operating companies, corporate leadership sought consistent purchasing objectives, reliable KPIs, and transparent measurement to drive consolidation, cost control, and better supplier management across the group.

ThyssenKrupp implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS Performance Management Framework (with Developer Studio, SAP Adapter, ReportCaster and related tools) to define company-wide KPIs, deliver web-based scorecards and integrate heterogeneous systems. Piloted across five companies and then rolled out as a shared service, the solution delivered greater visibility, improved purchasing productivity and accountability, faster push‑button reporting with less IT involvement, and measurable economies of scale through consolidation and cost savings.
