A Information Builders Case Study
Mount Sinai Medical Center, a 1,200-bed academic hospital, needed a metrics-based way to hold physicians accountable for performance and quality and to restructure reporting so critical information was more accessible. The challenge was to resolve data-quality and information-management issues, standardize KPIs, and give clinicians and managers timely, actionable insights without disrupting patient care.
Mount Sinai implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI suite—including the FPA Dashboard, Active Reports and self-service analytics—to deliver graphical, role-specific KPIs to ~1,000 clinicians and administrators. The system improved transparency and operational decision‑making, saved staff time, helped identify about $5 million in missed charges and recover nearly $3 million in one year, and established a foundation to expand reporting into clinical and operational measures.
