Michigan State Police Unifies Data and Amplifies View Into Criminal Activity

Michigan State Police (founded 1917, ~2,900 employees and 1,500 officers) needed a way to unify and deliver vital criminal, incident, and activity data from many disparate sources to patrol officers, detectives, commanders, and headquarters staff. Inconsistent records, duplicate or missing data, and siloed systems made it difficult to get timely, accurate information for investigations, patrol decisions, and performance tracking.

Working with Information Builders, MSP deployed WebFOCUS BI and analytics with Magnify, Omni‑Gen, iWay and professional services to build dynamic dashboards, the MI‑Intel Search tool, a master data hub, and mobile analytical maps. The integrated, cleansed “golden” records and real‑time analytics now support 142 local agencies, speed investigations, improve resource deployment and situational awareness, reduce wasted effort, and extend predictive and big‑data capabilities down to the trooper level.
