Houston Community College Recruits WebFOCUS to Analyze Performance and Meet Public Funding Requirements

Houston Community College (HCC), a public institution serving about 75,000 students each semester across 23 locations in the Houston area, needed a cost-effective way to meet increasing accountability and reporting demands. The college struggled to combine disparate data sources and present timely academic, enrollment and financial metrics within its existing Microsoft SharePoint environment, relying heavily on IT to generate reports and inconsistent spreadsheets.

HCC implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS, iWay DataMigrator, Open Portal Services for SharePoint and professional services to build a centralized data warehouse and an Academic Dashboard embedded in SharePoint. The self-service dashboards and InfoApps provide real-time KPIs (retention, enrollment, financial aid, transfers, etc.), enable drill-down analysis for administrators and the board, improve decision-making and communication, reduce IT overhead, and have become the college’s enterprise BI standard.
