Enterprise BI Environment Streamlines Financial Reporting, Risk Management, and Compliance Operations

Kempen & Co, an independent Dutch merchant bank offering asset management, corporate finance and securities brokerage, needed to unify legacy and modern data sources to simplify account management, risk oversight and financial reporting. Managers struggled with ad hoc reports and limited access to data on an HP Alpha OpenVMS system, which hindered timely analysis and consistent reporting across the organization.

Using Information Builders’ WebFOCUS platform (with Professional Server, Web Services Adapter, Resource Governor and iWay DataMigrator/adapters), Kempen built centralized BI dashboards that pull from billing, fund registration, broker, trading, GL and CRM systems, plus automated alert/exception reporting and tight Excel integration. The solution improved analysis speed and accuracy, reduced costs, increased revenue opportunities, enabled proactive risk management and shortened the monthly close to three–four days.
