A Information Builders Case Study
DataGen, a for-profit subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State, helps hospitals, physician groups, and health systems understand the financial impact of shifting CMS payment policies as care moves from volume- to value-based models. Faced with growing demand, DataGen’s Excel- and SharePoint-based reporting was slow to update, hard to scale, and offered only rudimentary self-service analytics—limiting clients’ ability to analyze claims, bundled payments, and episodes of care across the continuum.
DataGen implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS suite (AppStudio, WebFOCUS BI Portal, In-Document Analytics, InfoAssist+) to build white‑labeled, HIPAA‑compliant analytic portals with embedded CMS logic and responsive dashboards. The new environment sped rollout and client onboarding, increased self-service adoption, enabled drill-down into episodes of care (e.g., CJR and OCM), and helped providers reduce readmissions, identify cost‑effective treatments, and eliminate manual reporting—improving care quality and cost effectiveness.
