CONAGUA Drinks Up Success With Business Intelligence

Information Builders partnered with CONAGUA, Mexico’s National Water Commission, to tackle a growing data-management challenge: water information existed largely in hardcopy and fragmented digital files (Excel, legacy systems, Esri shapefiles), was updated manually, and was difficult to integrate or deliver to decision-makers and the public—including mobile users—needed for national water planning and policy.

Using the WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform (reporting server, developer tools, ETL/adapters and mobile/active technologies) Information Builders created the National System for Water Information (SINA), integrating spatial and statistical data, automating ETL and publishing interactive desktop and mobile reports. The solution enabled real-time and historical reporting, improved data quality and accessibility, and helped establish data-driven water policies and basin planning while shifting CONAGUA to an information-driven culture.
