Central Washington University Gets SMART With WebFOCUS

Information Builders helped Central Washington University (a four‑year public university) replace slow, paper‑intensive PeopleSoft reporting with a modern BI strategy to support predictive analytics, campuswide decision‑making, internal and external reporting, and compliance. CWU needed an integrated platform to speed queries, standardize data, and produce large compliance reports that previously took months and strained the ERP system.

CWU implemented the WebFOCUS higher‑education bundle (WebFOCUS, ReportCaster, RStat, Active Technology), built a data warehouse and marts, and launched the SMART self‑service dashboard environment. As a result, compliance and legislative reports that once took months now run in minutes, the university produces about 100 self‑service reports annually, external submissions are completed ahead of deadlines, and RStat enables rapid predictive models for student retention and targeted advising.
