A Information Builders Case Study

Canadian Healthcare Provider Gains a Healthy Perspective With Information Builders’ Technologies

Grand River Hospital is a 615-bed community hospital in Ontario serving more than 500,000 residents. With over 60 source systems and an IM/IT environment that required the team to extract unique data sets and build custom reports for every new metric, cross-system reporting was slow and labour-intensive, creating a bottleneck for the hospital’s 11-member decision-support team and clinical stakeholders.

Working with Information Builders, Grand River implemented iWay DataMigrator, WebFOCUS and InfoAssist to build an enterprise data warehouse and automate ETL (including daily change-data capture). The consolidated repository and self-service BI tools gave clinicians, administrators and finance staff fast, reliable cross-system insights—cutting reporting delays, enabling case-costing and real-time operational monitoring (ER wait times, outcomes, resource use), and improving productivity and confidence in the data.
