Butler Health Verifies Meaningful Use With WebFOCUS

Information Builders helped Butler Health System (BHS), a 294‑bed community hospital with 1,700 employees and $400M in annual revenue, address a critical reporting gap: operational reports from MEDITECH and legacy BI tools couldn’t meet federal “meaningful use” requirements or the detailed, near‑real‑time analytics needed for pay‑for‑performance initiatives. BHS needed an easy, clinician‑friendly environment for timely clinical and operational insight without heavy IT dependence.

Using the WebFOCUS suite (Developer Studio, Portal, PMF, InfoAssist, Active Technology, mobile delivery and professional services), BHS built a reporting portal, parameterized reports, PMF scorecards and self‑service InfoAssist objects accessible on iPads. The solution verified meaningful use, improved reimbursement tracking, and empowered clinicians to self‑service analytics—after one year ED arrival‑to‑admission times fell 15%, arrival‑to‑discharge fell 10%, and in‑patient throughput rose 7%, with faster decision‑making and reduced reliance on IT.
