Shikoku Electric Power Co., part of the Yonden Group, is a leading multi-utility in Shikoku, Japan. After adopting and later upgrading SAP R/3, the company faced a pressing challenge: speed up and streamline spreadsheet output—an essential part of daily operations—without adding custom programs or increasing maintenance overhead.

Shikoku implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI platform, which provided SAP R/3 compatibility, Excel integration and built-in security without modifying SAP. Deployed in August 2008, the solution serves 9,000 users across nine group companies, produces about 120 spreadsheets (200 batch and 3,000 online outputs daily) with an average two-second response time, and significantly reduced server load, man-hours and ongoing operational effort.
