Adif, the Madrid-based administrator of Spain’s railway infrastructure, faced an information overload spread across hundreds of disparate systems and applications. Data was duplicated, unstructured and managed without corporate governance, making it difficult to get consistent, timely information for finance, production, maintenance, HR, logistics and environmental reporting. The organization set out to homogenize data and provide a single point of access to support enterprise-wide analysis and decision making.

Adif built a centralized Oracle-based data warehouse and adopted Information Builders WebFOCUS (with iWay integration) as its corporate BI standard, migrating users and reports in stages. Deployed with dashboards, control panels and a scalable web farm, the solution now supports roughly 3,000 users with self-service, in-depth analysis and reporting. The result is centralized, high-quality data, improved decision-making and progress toward real-time operational intelligence.
