Euroclear’s Secure Settlement Engine (SSE) and Common Communications Interface (CCI) required a secure, real‑time two‑way messaging solution to replace multiple national systems, eliminate back‑office inefficiencies, and enable straight‑through processing (STP).

BT built a managed, multi‑channel secure messaging gateway using iWay Software’s SOA platform and Secure Messaging Option, delivering PKI‑based authentication, non‑repudiation, synchronous delivery and high scalability. The solution supports screen, file and real‑time channels, processes over a million transactions per day, and helped consolidate five platforms into one — contributing to an expected market savings of more than €300 million and materially reducing back‑office costs and cross‑border settlement risk.
