Axicom Boosts Engineering Productivity With Self-Service Analytics

Axicom, Australia’s leading owner and operator of independently owned wireless infrastructure with about 2,000 towers, needed to replace inherited U.S.-based analytics and combine data from on-premises and cloud systems (notably JD Edwards and Siterra) after a divestiture. The company required real-time and batch integration to avoid duplicate data entry, plus cross-platform portals, dashboards and self-service reporting for operations, engineering and finance.

Axicom partnered with Information Builders, standardizing on WebFOCUS/InfoAssist+ for BI and Omni-Gen/iWay integration to load DB2/Oracle into a SQL Server data mart (using CDC) and orchestrate real-time transactions. The solution delivered a self-service analytics portal used by 100+ staff, cut custom IT reporting, freed up the equivalent of about 3.5–4 highly paid FTEs in engineering, improved data integrity, reduced costs and simplified the IT landscape.
