ASM Research Uses WebFOCUS to Create Military Training Management Application

ASM Research, a Fairfax-based information solutions integrator serving Department of Defense customers, faced the challenge of modernizing an antiquated, mainframe-based reporting system (ATRRS) used to track training activities across the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and other agencies. The legacy environment was cumbersome, inconsistent, and insecure, making it difficult for training managers to monitor enrollments, certifications, seat allocations and resource spending without disrupting critical training services.

ASM implemented Information Builders’ WebFOCUS to replace hundreds of legacy reports with an intuitive, web-based BI portal featuring dashboards, KPIs, real-time DB2/SQL Server connectivity and role-based security for external and internal users. The solution supports more than 28,000 users, enables drill-down analytics, automated alerts and saved report variants, and has improved visibility into training needs, success rates and seat utilization—resulting in more effective training management and more efficient use of resources.
