Arcadia Group, the UK’s largest clothing retailer with more than 2,000 branches and eight high-street brands, needed to move from a limited BI deployment to an enterprise-wide platform that would give buyers, merchandisers and store staff timely, accurate and consistent information. The company sought a solution that could scale from about 200 users to thousands, integrate with its IBM-based data warehouse, and replace inflexible legacy tools that hindered multi-channel and international operations.
Arcadia selected Information Builders’ WebFOCUS for its architecture, ease of deployment, IBM iSeries integration and scalability, and rolled it out across the organization. Deployment boosted active BI users from roughly 200 to more than 900 (with plans to extend to ~5,000), reduced over 1,000 reports to 100 key management reports while enabling user-built ad hoc reports, and delivered faster, better decisions—improving merchandising, basket analysis and trial evaluation without extra data-warehouse investment.
