A New Integration and Analytics Strategy for Brant Community Healthcare System

Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS), a large community hospital serving more than 120,000 residents in southwestern Ontario, faced slow, error-prone reporting driven by manual extraction and Excel-based cleansing from its MEDITECH system. The Decision Support team spent significant time producing clinical and financial reports (requiring at least two full-time staff), leaving leaders without timely, accurate information for day-to-day decisions and regulatory benchmarking.

BCHS implemented an end-to-end information management platform from Information Builders—including WebFOCUS, InfoAssist, iWay DataMigrator, iWay Data Quality Suite, plus Professional Services and training—to integrate, cleanse, secure, and present data in a SQL data warehouse and dashboards. The deployment eliminated much of the manual reporting burden, freed analysts for higher-value work, provided real-time dashboards for ED and inpatient flow and staffing decisions, improved data accuracy for benchmarking, and positioned BCHS to extend mobile BI and patient-survey analytics.
