UBS creates an enterprise-grade data governance program for risk and compliance reporting

UBS faced a regulatory mandate after BCBS239: in 2015 the bank had to prove to regulators that it understood and controlled the quality of the data used to run its business. Meeting this requirement across a global, complex application landscape was a major governance and reporting challenge.

UBS implemented the Group Data Dictionary using Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Data Quality and Informatica Metadata Manager to create an enterprise-grade data governance platform. By extending IDQ and integrating it with Metadata Manager, UBS centralized data definitions, rules and controls and enabled business users to explore data lineage across 2,800 applications—strengthening data quality, governance and the bank’s ability to demonstrate control to regulators.
