Tinkoff Tames the Big Data Bear, Innovates at Lower Cost with Informatica

Tinkoff Bank, a fast-growing, internet-only Russian retail bank, needed to scale analytics and decision-making as data volumes and variety exploded. Its enterprise data warehouse was strained by massive semi-structured and unstructured sources (clickstreams, app logs, third‑party scores), forcing manual preprocessing that slowed marketing targeting and prevented real‑time credit‑risk assessment at point of application.

Tinkoff deployed Informatica Big Data Management to build a Hadoop data lake alongside the EDW, integrating roughly 150 TB of semi/unstructured data and 30 TB of structured data with visual development, metadata lineage and self‑service BI. The change accelerated delivery (data pipelines up to five times faster, pilot completed in a month), enabled near real‑time credit‑risk views, boosted some marketing campaign conversions by tenfold, reduced TCO and improved business–IT collaboration and scalability.
