A Informatica Case Study
The State of Washington’s Department of Enterprise Services (DES) — responsible for a wide range of government functions — set out to streamline operations and create an “integration as a service” capability. A priority was the Time, Leave and Attendance (TLA) application, where a manual, nightly exchange of account codes between a decades-old COBOL mainframe finance system and an SAP-based HRMS caused two- to three-day delays, frequent errors, and duplicated point-to-point interfaces across a diverse IT landscape.
DES deployed the Informatica Data Integration Hub with help from Informatica Professional Services and partner Eccella, using its publish-and-subscribe model to centralize and publish data once for multiple consumers. The change cut an HRMS process from days to minutes, sped payroll registration, reduced errors and rework, eliminated many point-to-point interfaces, improved data consistency and IT resource use, and established a foundation for faster, more scalable integration across the enterprise.
