Maastro’s New Patient Portal Encourages Active Participation in Managing Healthcare

Maastro Clinic, a leading Dutch cancer treatment and research center, needed to modernize systems with a cloud-first strategy while keeping strict control over sensitive patient data. Facing a government-mandated MedMij deadline to deliver a patient portal, plus a requirement to launch a national referral portal and provide GDPR-compliant researcher access, Maastro had to balance cloud adoption, security, and regulatory compliance without impacting clinical systems.

Maastro implemented Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services—using Cloud Data Integration to transform and deliver HL7 CDA/FHIR documents to an XDS repository and Cloud Application Integration for real-time referral messaging—while applying identity, access, and auditing controls. The result: patients can securely view records and images in a single portal, Maastro met MedMij requirements and earned the incentive, referrals trigger immediate planning for faster radiotherapy access, and researchers obtain de-identified data for compliant, efficient research.
