This private R1 research university (est. 1800s) is shifting to a lifelong-learning model across satellite campuses and large co-op programs, but faced a fragmented digital landscape: student data lived in 85 systems, causing repeated data requests, slow developer access, and growing privacy and GDPR concerns—especially when sharing data with cloud apps like Salesforce. The university needed a way to collect information once, provide real-time access for new interfaces, and anonymize data for development and compliance.

Using Informatica Cloud Application Integration, the university built a reusable API library delivered through an Apigee gateway (integrated with SSO) and used Informatica Data Masking and PowerExchange Change Data Capture to protect and capture live changes. The solution created a single trusted student view, accelerated integrations (about twice as fast), enabled chatbots and Alexa voice services, and strengthened data privacy, reducing risk and helping meet GDPR requirements.
