Japan for UNHCR Makes Donations Go Further

Japan for UNHCR (J4U), the sole Japanese nonprofit affiliate of UNHCR, needed to make every donation count while operating with a lean IT team and strict limits on administrative costs. Its fundraising and donor data were managed by time-consuming, spreadsheet-based processes that couldn’t scale, required support for double-byte Japanese characters, and left J4U ill-prepared to pivot operations during the COVID‑19 crisis.

J4U adopted Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (iPaaS) and Informatica Cloud Data Integration to automate ETL, sync Salesforce, NetSuite, and a Microsoft SQL Server warehouse, and connect donor data to an Amazon Connect contact center using prebuilt connectors and a visual interface for non-programmers. The new platform cut batch processing from over eight hours to under two, tripled developer productivity so features ship in weeks not months, centralized visibility, reduced manual work, enabled redeployment of up to 50 fundraisers to telemarketing, and helped direct more funds to refugee aid.
