Interfor Accelerates Customer Onboarding for Lumber Invoicing

Interfor, a major British Columbia lumber producer selling globally, needed to speed and simplify electronic data interchange (EDI) for invoices and advance shipping notices as it scaled. The company was managing four homegrown EDI platforms that required extensive custom coding and could take a year or more to onboard a new trading partner, so Interfor sought a standardized, resilient cloud solution to accelerate customer, bank, and transportation partner onboarding and reduce technical debt.

After a 60‑day proof of concept, Interfor adopted Informatica Cloud B2B Gateway and Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services, using out‑of‑the‑box mappings and a three‑step wizard to configure connections without coding. The change cut new EDI onboarding to about three weeks, implemented six high‑priority connections, and delivered greater stability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency—positioning Interfor to migrate hundreds of partners off legacy systems.
