A Informatica Case Study
Eli Lilly & Co., a global pharmaceutical leader, faced fragmented data scattered across clinical, commercial, manufacturing, compliance, legal, and research silos—managed largely via spreadsheets and documents—across more than 750 Oracle and 5,000 SQL Server databases. Analysts could spend up to 80% of their time simply locating data, and the company needed enterprise-wide governance and faster compliance with privacy laws in 120+ countries (GDPR, CCPA) plus quicker responses to data subject access requests.
Lilly built an Enterprise Data Marketplace using Informatica Axon Data Governance, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Data Quality tools, and an AWS backbone to scan and catalog metadata (over 35 million assets) and track PII with scorecards and AI-driven discovery. The initiative delivered a single, trusted repository that improved data visibility and stewardship, reduced time spent finding data so analysts can focus on insights, strengthened compliance and lineage, and enabled better, faster business decisions and revenue opportunities while avoiding duplicate data purchases.
