A Informatica Case Study
George Washington University, with more than 25,000 students across three campuses, faced fragmented enrollment, student, finance and faculty data spread across multiple ERPs and dozens of spreadsheets. Manual exports and reconciliations took weeks, produced inconsistent versions of the same data, and impeded timely, governed decision-making for deans, researchers and administrators.
GW built an enterprise data warehouse using Informatica (PowerCenter, Data Quality, Intelligent Cloud Services) with pre-built connectors to ERPs and Salesforce, plus metadata management and self-service BI (Cognos, Tableau). The deployment automated and standardized data delivery, enabled near‑real‑time reporting and self-service dashboards for 500+ researchers, cut report compilation by roughly 100 person‑hours, strengthened governance and earned a NACUBO Innovation Award, while positioning the university to scale toward predictive analytics.
