Case Study: Samsung Life Insurance achieves $20.8M IT cost savings and 3x data-processing efficiency with Informatica

A Informatica Case Study

Preview of the Samsung Life Insurance Case Study

As part of the country’s largest ever data migration initiative, leading Korean insurance provider reduces IT costs by $20.8 million over four years and triples developer productivity

Samsung Life Insurance, Korea’s largest insurer with about $26 billion in revenues and over 10 million customers (roughly one-third of the market), needed to modernize platforms and migrate enormous volumes of critical data quickly, reliably and safely while lowering IT costs and improving agility. The project required extracting, analyzing, transforming and moving 57 terabytes of data, handling complex Korean double‑byte characters and maintaining a high level of data quality.

Using Informatica PowerCenter and PowerExchange to automate previously manual processes, Samsung Life accelerated throughput (about three times prior manual operations) and increased developer productivity two- to threefold. The migration— the largest ever executed in Korea—reduced IT costs by $20.8 million over four years, bolstered error‑free operations and safeguarded data quality.
