A Infor Case Study
Palmerston North City Council, which serves 86,000 residents in New Zealand, struggled to manage some 161,000 assets valued at more than NZ$1.5B due to incomplete asset registers, poor maintenance histories and slow, paper‑based processes. The council needed a modern, web‑enabled, mobile and GIS/GPS‑aware asset management solution to improve data accuracy, planning, compliance and operational responsiveness.
PNCC implemented Infor Public Sector and Infor Field Inspector, integrated with GIS/GPS, creating a single central repository and real‑time mobile inspection/work management capability. The rollout digitized paper workflows, improved maintenance scheduling and decision‑making, increased asset reliability and visibility, processed thousands of work orders (about 4,000 since Field Inspector was introduced), and saved roughly 360 staff hours per year while enabling proactive management of NZ$1.5B in assets.
