Mohawk drives down energy use with Infor EAM

Mohawk Fine Papers, North America’s largest premium writing and printing paper manufacturer, faced rising energy costs that had increased about 30% over five years and represented the biggest slice of its operating and maintenance expense. With motors and pumps consuming roughly 75% of that energy, the company needed better factory-floor visibility and a clear roadmap to integrate energy management into its asset strategy and drive down consumption.

Mohawk implemented Infor EAM with Microsoft SQL Server and deployed it company-wide, integrating thousands of sensors and an Asset Sustainability module to compare designed versus actual energy use. The system enabled condition-based preventive maintenance, data-driven repair-or-replace decisions, and auditable greenhouse-gas reporting—delivering nearly a 15% cut in energy consumption so far and an expected additional 15–20% reduction, along with improved asset reliability, safety, and operational decision making.
