Indiana University Health improves accountability and cuts costs

Indiana University Health, Indiana’s largest healthcare system with nearly 23,000 employees and more than 3,700 physicians, needed greater transparency, accountability and efficiency in its supply chain to reduce costs and improve operations across hospitals and outpatient services.

By implementing Infor Lawson Mobile Supply Chain Management, IU Health mobilized staff and automated key processes, accelerating PO and package delivery, reducing lost items and unnecessary reorders, and speeding inventory counts with handheld devices. The project boosted productivity by 50%, saved $228,500 in labor (projected $442,000 over five years), cut 8–22 minutes per worker per run (10 minutes per dispatch call; 20 minutes per bin-fill), and decreased staff overtime.
