A Infor Case Study
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research and operator of the Large Hadron Collider, needed to improve operational efficiency and centralize management of a vast, long‑lived estate of scientific and campus assets. Facing strict headcount and budget constraints, frequent personnel turnover, outsourced maintenance, and the requirement to document complex equipment lifecycles and interventions, CERN sought to scale and standardize its asset-management processes across the organization.
CERN upgraded to the latest Infor EAM without custom code, leveraging the platform’s extensibility framework, user‑defined screens, and web services to integrate systems and model complex equipment dependencies with graphical visualizations. The upgrade established Infor EAM as the central repository for 1.85 million pieces of equipment (including ~950,000 assets), streamlined processes, reduced in‑house and commercial applications, lowered IT and operational costs, and increased data quality and staff productivity.
