A Infor Case Study
Bentley University, a business-focused university near Boston, needed to automate facilities operations to control costs, streamline tedious dorm inspections, and support an ambitious climate-neutral goal (50% carbon reduction from a 2008 baseline). With electricity accounting for nearly half of campus emissions, the facilities team sought a proven asset-management solution to cut energy use and optimize maintenance across 49 buildings.
Bentley implemented Infor EAM—a web-based, customizable system—within about four months to automate dorm inspections and the university’s 42,000 annual work orders, integrate energy management for predictive maintenance, and deploy mobile barcode tools for faster data capture. The results: nearly 10% campus-wide electricity reduction (>2 million kWh, equivalent to 30 days of campus power), 25% faster work-order response and improved labor productivity, fewer equipment failures, and lower operating and IT/training costs.
