Baker & Taylor gains speed with Infor Corporate Performance Management

Baker & Taylor, a Charlotte-based distributor of books, media, and services with more than 180 years in business, faced the challenge of replacing fragmented, spreadsheet-driven financial and budgeting processes—complicated further by mergers and distinct retail and institutional market models—with a single, accessible system that would provide timely, accurate visibility into sales, inventory, P&L and operations for a small finance team.

They implemented Infor Corporate Performance Management to integrate general ledger, sales, budgets and forecasts on a common SQL-based platform, enabling end-to-end budgeting (sales → inventory → warehouse), side-by-side actual/budget/forecast comparisons, and detailed drill-down reporting. The result was faster, more accurate planning and forecasting, reduced manual reporting effort without increasing headcount, improved decision confidence, and a scalable framework for further process refinement.
