A Infoblox Case Study
Widener University, a metropolitan university serving about 6,500 students across multiple Pennsylvania and Delaware campuses, faced recurring DNS/DHCP outages and slow, time-consuming updates after relying on Microsoft Windows servers. A server crash exposed limitations in DHCP high availability and left IP address management trapped in a manual spreadsheet managed by a four-person team.
Widener deployed Infoblox appliances (1050, 550, 250) with NS1 and Infoblox Grid technology to centralize DNS, DHCP and IPAM. The Grid provided resilient, centrally managed services, an intuitive dashboard and one-button recovery, simplifying upgrades and eliminating OS maintenance. The result: automated IPAM, faster troubleshooting, improved reliability and collaboration, and about a couple hours saved per week in administration.
