A Infoblox Case Study
West Chester University, a public regional institution founded in 1871 and the second-largest school in Pennsylvania’s state system with about 14,500 students, faced growing network management challenges. Their Windows-based DHCP lacked redundancy, OS updates were cumbersome, and spreadsheets no longer provided the real-time IP address visibility needed as mobile devices and users increased, creating administrative overhead and risk of outages.
The university chose Infoblox—deploying Infoblox-550 appliances in high-availability pairs using Infoblox Grid and NS1, and integrating existing NetMRI tools—to centralize IPAM and DHCP. The result was resilient, nonstop DHCP with seamless one-button upgrades and automatic failover during power events, reduced errors and administrative effort, and improved enterprise-wide visibility and management.
