University of Liverpool - Customer Case Study

The University of Liverpool, a top-20 UK research-led university, was running DNS and DHCP on an aging BIND/Linux environment with DHCP split across eight near‑end‑of‑life servers. The setup was difficult and time-consuming to administer, upgrades were complex, and the network team—working with partner Khipu—sought a dynamic DHCP solution with integrated IPAM.

They deployed five Infoblox IB‑1050 and two IB‑550 appliances with NS1 and Infoblox Grid technology to deliver centrally managed, distributed DNS/DHCP and IPAM. The solution simplified administration and upgrades, added built‑in high availability, security and one‑button disaster recovery, enabled management of many more zones and helped pave the way for IPv6 migration.
