University Hospitals of Leicester - Customer Case Study

University Hospitals of Leicester, one of the UK’s largest NHS Trusts serving nearly two million people across three campuses, undertook a network refresh to support a new Avaya IP telephony rollout of 8,000 handsets. The IT team needed to move off difficult-to-manage Microsoft DNS/DHCP servers to a more scalable, secure solution that could guarantee dial-tone reliability and minimize administrative overhead.

The trust deployed eight Infoblox-1550 appliances running DNSone and the grid module to provide nonstop internal and external DNS, DHCP and IPAM, central management, and delegated administration across campuses, with full support for Avaya LAN Telephony. The result was dramatically reduced administrative cycles, easier IP tracking and centralized control, improved security and the high availability required for critical voice and clinical systems.
