A Infoblox Case Study
UIL Holdings Corporation, a diversified energy-delivery company serving about 706,000 electric and natural gas customers across 66 communities, needed to replace an aging mix of commodity servers after acquiring multiple gas companies and rolling out enterprise VoIP. A centralized DNS/DHCP model no longer fit their distributed environment, and they required an appliance-based, onsite solution to meet strict compliance, reliability, availability, and maintenance goals.
UIL deployed roughly 20 Infoblox appliances using the Infoblox Grid, with DNS, DHCP and NetMRI (and plans for DNS Firewall and IPAM) to provide distributed services and automated change-and-configuration management. The outcome was higher reliability—including seamless failover during a major data-center connectivity disruption—greater operational visibility and productivity, and a cost-effective path to meet regulatory compliance.
