Tohoku Gakuin University - Customer Case Study

Tohoku Gakuin University, founded in 1886 with about 15,000 students across several campuses, faced growing operational complexity and reliability issues in its network infrastructure. DNS and DHCP were managed on multiple generic Linux servers using BIND, requiring manual zone copying, manual MAC-to-IP registrations, no redundancy, and difficult security patching—creating a rising management burden as devices increased.

The university deployed six Infoblox Trinzic 1410 appliances using Infoblox Grid™ technology (HA content/cache DNS pairs and HA DHCP pairs) and integrated MAC/IP management. This centralized, appliance-based solution simplified design and configuration, enabled easy security updates, eliminated manual IP registration, added automatic failover and DNSSEC capability, and reduced application management effort—freeing staff time and improving network reliability.
