The Catholic Education Network (CEnet) - Customer Case Study

The Catholic Education Network (CEnet) is a not-for-profit ICLT organization that supports Catholic diocese education networks across New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT, serving about 330,000 staff and students. CEnet faced scaling and risk issues from a legacy DNS system built on four VM BIND9 servers with IP address management tracked in Excel and managed largely by one person overseas; cloud DNS options didn’t meet their need for combined internal and external DNS and they required a secure, user-friendly GUI for distributed administrators.

CEnet deployed Infoblox Trinzic TE-1420 appliances with Infoblox DNS on an Infoblox Grid, plus DNS Firewall and RPZ, achieving a seamless, zero-downtime migration. The new solution delivered an intuitive GUI, simplified day-to-day and delegated management, plug-and-play Grid upgrades, enforced safe-search for Google Apps for Education, reduced DNS latency and spam lookups, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from users from day one.
