SRT Communications - Customer Case Study

SRT Communications, based in Minot, North Dakota, is the state’s largest telephone cooperative, serving more than 50,000 customers with fiber, copper and wireless services. The company was running an open-source DNS solution but needed to hand routine system administration to operations staff without extra training or exposing parts of the network, so it required an easy-to-use interface with role-based access controls and streamlined DNS processes.

SRT chose Infoblox for its graphical interface, role-based delegation and virtual appliance support (no new hardware required), deploying dedicated appliances for corporate and ISP DNS. The operations team now handles network tasks, the system administrator’s workload has decreased, response times and visibility have improved, the cutover was seamless, and SRT has since added DNS Firewall and plans to adopt Infoblox IPAM.
