A Infoblox Case Study
A world-class convention center that provides network and Internet connectivity to thousands of exhibitors faced an operational challenge: its small network team had to stand up and tear down hundreds of private exhibitor networks quickly and reliably, but Microsoft Windows–based DNS and DHCP servers were slow to manage, prone to timeouts and lockdowns, and required many manual steps to perform common tasks.
The center deployed an Infoblox Grid DDI solution (via reseller Trace3), installing a high-availability pair of appliances and using Infoblox’s migration wizard to transfer DNS/DHCP data in about 30 minutes. The result was elimination of DNS problems, improved uptime and agility (servers can be moved without disruption), easier software updates, timeout relief via automatic logoff/anywhere access, faster troubleshooting with DNS Fingerprinting, and flawless handling of massive DNS spikes — with plans to add Infoblox DNS Firewall for malware protection.
