North American National Wireline ISP - Customer Case Study

The customer was the wireline division of a major North American integrated communications provider delivering broadband to retail and enterprise customers. They needed to lower DNS response times to improve customer satisfaction and reduce operational and licensing costs, while avoiding an expensive forklift upgrade and the operational burden of patching and managing many distributed servers; they also required edge server placement with centralized visibility and automated failover.

The provider deployed 23 Infoblox DNS caching appliances across six locations managed by an Infoblox Grid with a central Grid Master and high-availability pairs; appliances auto-provision and the Grid provides single-pane-of-glass management, remote configuration and automated disaster recovery. The deployment cost less than upgrading the legacy system, reduced DNS latency, improved reliability and operational visibility, and lowered ongoing support effort without adding staff.
