A Infoblox Case Study
Nevada Department of Corrections, which runs 24 facilities and supports thousands of inmates and staff, relied on server-based DNS and spreadsheets for IP address management, resulting in reliability, availability and visibility problems. The IT team experienced spontaneous DHCP failures, frequent manual intervention after power outages at remote sites, and overall difficulty managing and securing core network services.
In 2008 the DOC deployed 12 Infoblox appliances running DNSone and Grid to provide nonstop DNS/DHCP, automated IPAM (plus TFTP and NTP) and a web-based management console. The result was 100% uptime for core IP services, consolidated network visibility, simplified administration, easy subnet expansion and measurable cost and operational savings.
