Leon County - Customer Case Study

Leon County, Florida (population ~245,000; ~1,750 employees across 14 locations) relied on manually managed DNS on Sun/Linux servers to support critical services like email, justice systems, EMS, GIS and public websites. The ad‑hoc setup was hard to scale, time‑consuming to administer, left the network vulnerable to outages and patches, and generated user complaints (as often as 2–3 times per day).

The county deployed four Infoblox appliances running DNSone (primary/secondary for internal DNS, one for the library network, one for external DNS), providing a hardened, high‑availability, easy‑to‑manage DNS platform. Installation was fast, management and automation reduced manual errors, and scalability supported a threefold increase in domains; most importantly, DNS reliability improved dramatically and the IT team reports zero DNS‑related user complaints since deployment.
