A Infoblox Case Study
A large Asian national mobile operator with over 100 million subscribers faced growing DNS traffic that their legacy BIND-on-Sun-server infrastructure could not handle. They needed higher performance, centralized management and reporting visibility, and a solution that complied with national data-security rules (the incumbent vendor’s reporting required moving data offshore). The operator also required assurance the DNS platform could scale with subscriber growth without increasing operational risk.
Infoblox deployed nine carrier-grade DNS caching appliances across three cities, plus a local reporting server, and centralized control with the Infoblox Grid. The rollout delivered per-server and aggregated DNS reporting (kept onshore), a single GUI for management, and automation that eliminated manual configuration errors and reduced hands-on labor. The new platform provides significant spare capacity for future traffic growth, easy scaling with additional appliances, and ongoing local support for long-term, cost‑effective operations.
