Infoblox Provides Operational Efficiency, Visibility, and Customer Satisfaction at UC San Diego

The University of California, San Diego — a large public research campus serving nearly 30,000 students — needed to build a next‑generation network that could provide ubiquitous connectivity, deeper visibility, flexible APIs, integration with existing BIND servers, strong security, and more efficient operations while preserving academic freedom. Their homegrown IPAM and manual processes couldn’t keep up with discovery, provisioning, and evolving threats.

UCSD deployed Infoblox Actionable Network Intelligence (DDI), NetMRI, and DNS Firewall to automate IP address management, deliver continuous deep discovery and automated network mapping, and block malware with RPZ-based DNS filtering (with opt-outs for research). The result: reduced manual work and freed developer time, complete visibility and automated configuration management, improved network integrity and reduced risk, and higher customer satisfaction through delegation and a modern UI.
