Geisinger Health System, an integrated health-services organization serving more than 2.6 million people across 44 counties in Pennsylvania, needed to replace its legacy Alcatel‑Lucent VitalQIP DNS/DHCP solution. The organization faced costly per‑IP licensing, limited vendor responsiveness, and the challenge of managing a distributed network with up to 20,000 users and a wide variety of devices—including FDA‑controlled equipment and personal devices—while improving visibility, control, and security.

Geisinger deployed Infoblox Grid technology with DDI, Reporting, DNS Firewall, DHCP Fingerprinting and HA appliances to centralize management. The solution enabled rapid onboarding of new sites, granular device visibility and role‑based access, and stronger DNS security—detecting and containing a compromised device during evaluation—and delivered scalability and reliability (zero unexpected downtime in three years), improving operational control and reducing compliance risk.
