Asian Mobile Communications Provider - Customer Case Study

A large Asian mobile communications provider and national 3G leader faced a fragile DNS environment: open-source BIND running on Sun hardware required frequent hands‑on patches and upgrades, offered no repeatable high‑availability failover, and forced skilled operators into manual, repetitive administration just as DNS traffic was projected to exceed 300,000 queries per second per node—threatening web and video latency and customer experience.

Infoblox deployed eleven 4000‑series DNS appliances across three cities plus an authoritative server, centrally managed by the Infoblox Grid with automated upgrades, failover and Trinzic reporting (with data kept in‑country). The result: DNS caching closer to customers and lower latency, elimination of manual maintenance, reliable automated high availability, better capacity planning, improved security and compliance, and a scalable platform to meet future demand.
