NIST - Customer Case Study

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) developed ARTIQ — a next‑generation control system for quantum information experiments — to manage complex, high‑precision lab workflows. The challenge was capturing, storing, and analyzing diverse, high‑frequency time‑series data (vacuum pressures, environmental parameters, laser powers, qubit transition frequencies, fluorescence, gate fidelities, etc.) so scientists could reliably share results and extract deeper insights.

NIST integrated InfluxData’s InfluxDB as the time‑series database for ARTIQ, logging and indexing all experimental telemetry alongside ARTIQ’s high‑level experiment language, which compiles to dedicated hardware with nanosecond timing and sub‑microsecond latency. The result is a scalable, searchable data platform that simplifies collaboration, accelerates analysis, and supports broader applications beyond ion trapping.
